Elisabeth Motsinger, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in North Carolina's 5th District, said today that she applauds the Supreme Court decision to uphold President Barack Obama's health care law. "One of my top priorities as Representative in Congress will be to ensure that all Americans have access to health care," Motsinger stated. "Members of Congress have excellent health care coverage. Why should it be denied to those they serve?"

"As a physician assistant, I have seen the devastation that lack of coverage creates in the lives of my patients" she said. "I look forward to the day when all Americans receive quality, affordable health care."

The Supreme Court today announced its 5-4 landmark decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act championed by President Obama and passed by Democrats in 2010.

Elisabeth Motsinger is a physician assistant who has served on the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School Board since 2006. In May, she won the Democratic Primary for U.S. Congress with 70 percent of the vote. A well-known political activist, she is completing her Master of Arts in Bioethics at Wake Forest University.
